I just got my vintage Crescent bike back from renovation. Isn’t it beautiful?! My friend Martin who helped me with the renovation is not only obsessed by bikes - but also by yoga, tango and pretty much whatever he does. Thanks a million for a great job!
A local Thai travel agent managed to screw up the booking of my Hong Kong flight today. Big time. After having paid the agent twice I still had no e-ticket in my mailbox. Since I was already on my way to the airport when realizing, I called the airline directly to buy a new ticket. Lucky as I am, all flights today were full and I was forced to a stopover in Bangkok. I checked in at the legendary colonial hotel The Oriental, wearing the mandatory full-length pants. After chilling by the pool for a few hours it was time for dinner. I really like sitting by the river at The Veranda restaurant. They usually offer a very nice dinner buffet and this evening was no different. Not only did they offer proper sashimi, 500+ varieties of salad dressing, roasted sirloin, turkey, curries, Mongolian BBQ, hand made ice cream, mango with sticky rice (and the list goes on) - they served fresh chicken kebab! Bigups to the creative chef!
I arrived in Bangkok for the Crooked Tongues BBQ early in the morning the day of the party and suffered from a hard case of jet lag. After a 6 hour nap, I met up with the boys from Crooked Tongues and Ben from Adidas to go to the BBQ at 100 Rajdamri, inside the The Royal Bangkok Sports Club. It offers two good restaurants, a nice bar and an oudoors lounge area. The influences from streethorsing are obvious. One of the restaurants is called Trot Bar and the other one is an Italian restaurant called Fallabella, which name is derived from Falabella - a rare breed of miniature horses. The servers are all wearing equestrian outfits.
First thing when we arrived to the venue was getting the VIP band put on.
I also managed to get the red band intended for the underaged.
After a few Singhas, it was time for me and Ben to get a complimentary foot massage.
The CT crew had designed a bunch of sneakers specially for the event.
Here’s the Adidas x CT BKK BBQ Superskate.
The boys over at SNS in Stockholm has put together this beautiful Puma Clyde, inspired by Sami art and culture. For those not so familiar with the Samis - it’s an ethnic group living in the north of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia deriving most of their income from reindeer farming. The shoe is of course made of reindeer leather and has nice Sami inspired trimmings. Good job guys!
Rumor says it that actor Robert Gustafsson is wearing an early prototype in a sketch in Swedish 1996 TV-series Percy TÃ¥rar, dressed up as a sami arguing about where the Compton of Sweden really is located and about the Sami’s problem with drive by shooting of reindeers.
I have a pair waiting for me in Stockholm. Thanks Peter! Can’t wait to sport it!
Going to the Crooked Tongues BBQ party in Bangkok on Sunday.
Lots of great photos and stories guaranteed.
Don’t miss the report early next week when I’ve recovered.
